Sanding a wood floor may seem like a hard job but a sanding machine can do the job in only a few hours and create a smooth and rejuvenated surface ready for coating. To start, you need to clear the room and remove all rugs and furniture. To start simply push the machine forward and lower the belt onto the floor in the direction of the wood grain. When sanding the floor after the first cut, divide the room into sections of two thirds/one third. Remember: always work left to right and never start or stop the sander while the sanding belt is in contact with the floor. Next you will need to use a smaller hand held sander to sand the outside edges of the room. Use a shop vac to pick up sanding dust when you change sand paper. Go over the floor again with the next lighter grain sandpaper using 100 – 120 grit sand paper, repeat the process again. Always using a small hand sander is a lot of work and very hard on your back. For the best possible result floor sanding should be done after plastering the walls, before skirting boards are fitted and with no fittings or obstacles to the floor such as doors, toilets, kitchens.
